As Yala has 5 Blocks, our Mahoora Naturalists avoid the busier blocks during the high season and take you to more private and rewarding blocks at the National Park.
Yala Park is amongst the oldest and best known of Sri Lanka's 15 National Parks. It covers approximately 1,300 square kilometres and is home to a range of ecosystems found nowhere else in Sri Lanka. With vegetation including moist and dry monsoon forests, thorn forest, savannah grasslands and fresh and saltwater wetlands, it comes as no surprise that the Yala National Park has the perfect habitats for the large number of endemic plant and animal species unique to the country. There are 44 species of recorded mammals in Yala National Park Sri Lanka, which include the Sri Lankan Leopard, Sri Lankan Sloth Bear and Sri Lankan Elephant, 215 species of birds, 46 species of reptiles and 21 species of amphibians.
The morning safari starts from the camp at 5:30am – 10:00am. The park gate opens at 6:00am. The afternoon safari starts from the camp at 2:30pm – 6:00pm.
The Park is situated in the dry zone of Sri Lanka and the climate is hot and humid. Sri Lanka’s weather is affected by many factors like depressions in the Indian Ocean, thus the weather is prone to change suddenly; rain often comes in short and dramatic bursts before clearing up.

An all-inclusive, half-a-day safari option will be provided for guests staying more than a night.
An exclusive jeep with front-faced, comfortable, elevated seats is provided for maximised game viewing and photography opportunities.
A professional naturalist is exclusively provided for each booking. This is a completely private safari experience for Mahoora Elite, thus you will not be sharing either the jeep or naturalist with other guests.
A complimentary picnic basket for the safari with chilled beverages and snacks will be provided.
Equipment for wildlife photographers can be provided on request, such as monopods, bean bags etc. during the Yala safari Sri Lanka.
Unlimited water will be provided.
